Is it normal for my heat pump to have frost on it?

By on February 20, 2019

You may see some frost forming on your heat pump, but there is no need to panic. Check back in a couple of hours and see if it’s still there. Your system should take care of the problem during its defrost cycle. However, if there is a significant amount of frost, ice, or snow on your system that does not go away, there is something wrong with your system. You may have a problem with your defrost controls, reversing valve, or improper refrigerant level. If this happens, it’s time to call Evolved Mechanical for a professional opinion.
