Do I have to cover my heat pump in the winter?
Never cover your heat pump. Because you run your heat pump all year, it needs to be uncovered at all times. To work properly and safely, your system needs to take in air along the sides and release exhaust out the top. If there is snow or frost on your system, only remove it from the top. Attempting to remove snow or ice from the sides could actually damage your heat pump, and the system should take care of this problem by itself when it goes into defrost mode.
